The Club is currently working on several Projects at its Buckingham Field to make it more user friendly and enjoyable for all.
The club has started its works program on the field, which includes a number of projects.
Below is a diary of work on the field which will be regularly updated throughout the program, and which will also feature photos of the projects on the field when they are completed.
2006 Development Program
- Update: Thursday, April 20th 2006
The Shire of Collie have just installed the new drainage on the field. This is designed to keep the field dry during winter and allow flying to continue during the winter months.
These drains follow the perimeter firebreaks around the field, both to prevent water entering the field and to remove water from the field. Two shallow drains were also installed from almost the centre of the field to the river
- Update: Tuesday, April 18th 2006
Cardinal Contractors have completed their dozer work on the field. This has included the removal of stumps from the field and the installation of the access road.
The access road is now temporarily open, allowing members and visitors to easily and safely access the airfield without driving under the flightpath of aircraft and also reduces the travelling distance to the field by over 500 m.
The Dozer, operator, fuel and transport of the dozer were kindly donated by Brad Gardiner of Cardinal Contractors, who are a major sponsor of the club.
